ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday said he spoke with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to coordinate joint diplomatic steps aimed at achieving peace and ensuring security.
Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for Britain’s continued support and said their teams would now work together on military preparations, including a planned meeting between military representatives.
“We are preparing a meeting of our military representatives to train contingents. We appreciate the UK’s stance on applying pressure on Russia,” he said.
He said pressure must be “strong enough” to prevent Moscow from expanding the war, which continues since February 2022. “In Moscow, they openly mock the partners’ efforts to promote a peace agenda,” he claimed.
Last week, Starmer met world leaders in Paris for the third meeting of the so-called “coalition of the willing,” a group led by him and French President Emmanuel Macron to increase support for Ukraine.
