ISTANBUL (AA) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday expressed hope for continued US support in securing peace, emphasizing that Ukraine is working closely with Washington and its partners in Europe to end the war.

“We are working together with America and our European partners and very much hope on US support on the path to peace,” Zelenskyy said on X, underlining the need for real security guarantees.

He stressed that Ukraine, Europe, and the US must act together to restore stability, as the war continues to devastate Ukrainian cities and claim lives.

“We need to stop the war and to guarantee security,” he added, days after a contentious meeting with US President Donald Trump was followed by full-throated declarations of support from Europe.

Zelenskyy also mentioned discussions with Baltic leaders – Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics, and Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal – on concrete security initiatives.

The Ukrainian leader expressed gratitude for new defense aid packages, calling them essential for saving lives and strengthening Ukraine’s security.

Kyiv continues to seek greater international backing, particularly from the US, as it pursues a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, now in its fourth year.
