Several missing after houses washed away in flood in southwestern China

Several people went missing after their houses washed away in heavy flash floods that hit southwestern China's Sichuan province on Saturday, state-run media said.

The flash flood occurred in a section of the Ya'an-Kangding expressway between the city of Kangding and Luding County, leading to the collapse of a bridge connecting two tunnels and vehicles falling, Xinhua News reported.

Rescue teams at the scene have so far rescued two people while the search continues for others near the collapsed bridge.

Authorities said several people are also missing after houses were washed away in the Sichuan province by heavy floods, according to the report.
