Several people injured as vehicle crashes into Texas Department of Public Safety offices

WASHINGTON (AA) - A commercial vehicle crashed into the offices of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) on Friday, injuring several people, the department confirmed.

"A commercial motor vehicle ran into the Brenham DPS Office, and there are reports of multiple serious injuries," the department announced on X.

A suspect has been arrested, it announced, adding that the Texas Rangers law enforcement agency is investigating the incident.

There is no further threat to the community, and additional resources are en route to assist, the department announced, urging people to avoid the area.

Some local news outlets reported at least 16 injuries after the vehicle intentionally ran into the Department of Public Safety offices at about 10.41 a.m. local time (1541GMT).
