More than 2.4 million Singaporeans to receive one-time payment, says finance minister

ISTANBUL (AA) - Eligible Singaporeans will receive between S$200 ($151) and S$400 next month, as part of measures announced to help with cost-of-living concerns.
More than 2.4 million Singaporeans are set to receive the one-time cash payment, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement late Tuesday.
Singaporeans 21 and older who earn less than S$100,000 and do not own more than one property will be eligible for the payment.
In addition to the payment in September, eligible Singaporeans will also receive further support, including U-Save rebates, Community Development Council vouchers, service and conservancy charges rebates, an additional cash payout and an Assurance Package Seniors' Bonus, in the coming months.
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who is also the finance minister, announced the Cost-of-Living Special Payment in February.
The payout is part of the Assurance Package, which cushions the effect of higher inflation and the goods and services tax increase for all Singaporeans.
