ANKARA (AA) – South Korea on Thursday imposed sanctions on 10 North Korean individuals, including the country's defense minister, and two entities over alleged weapons trade with other countries, including Russia, local media reported.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Seoul added North Korean Defense Minister Kang Sun-nam and former head of the North Korean People's Army's General Staff Pak Su-il to the sanctions list, Seoul-based Yonhap News reported.

Since May last year during President Yoon Suk Yeol’s administration, Seoul has added 64 individuals and 53 entities of North Korea to its sanctions list.

The latest move came after North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s recent visit to Russia where he met with President Vladimir Putin amid reports of possible military cooperation between the two allies.

However, on Wednesday the Russian Embassy in Seoul rejected reports that Moscow and Pyongyang discussed military cooperation at last week's bilateral summit between Putin and Kim.
