ISTANBUL (AA) – South Korea's newly elected parliament began a four-year term Thursday.
The 300-member parliament will hold its first plenary session next Wednesday, Seoul-based Yonhap News reported.
The main opposition Democratic Party (DP) dominates the parliament with 192 seats while President Yoon Suk-yeol’s ruling People Power Party holds only 108 seats.
Yoon, who has been serving a five-year term since 2022, faced massive opposition to his policies in the parliament in the previous term.
South Korea held parliamentary elections in April while presidential election is set for 2027.
