S&P 500 close higher to end 3-day losing streak
Tesla shares soar 21.9% for best daily performance since 2013

ISTANBUL (AA) - The S&P 500 closed higher to put an end to its three-day losing streak, as US stocks closed Thursday on a mixed note.
The broad-market increased 12 points, or 0.21%, to finish the session at 5,809.
The index was lifted by Tesla shares, which soared 21.9% to mark the best daily performance since 2013.
Tesla saw its income rising 17% and revenue climbing 8% in the third quarter, according to financial results released Wednesday after market close.
The Nasdaq Composite, meanwhile, rose 138 points, or 0.76%, to end the day 18,415.
The Dow Jones industrial average, however, dove 140 points, or 0.33%, to 42,374 as the blue-chip index fell for the fourth straight day.
The VIX volatility index, referred to as the "fear index," lost 0.8% to 19.08. The 10-year US Treasury yield fell 0.76% to 4.212%.
The US dollar index shed 0.3% to 104.02, while the euro gained 0.45% against the dollar, trading at $1.0829.
Precious metals were mixed, with gold rising 0.8% to $2,736 per ounce, but silver trimming 0.1% to $33.67 an ounce.
Oil prices lost around 0.4%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $74.69 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $70.48 per barrel.
