S&P, Nasdaq open higher to extend winning streak
Nasdaq up after finishing previous session with 8 consecutive days of gains

ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks opened Wednesday with gains as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq are extending their longest winning streak in two years.
The S&P 500 added nine points, or 0.21%, to 4,387 at 9.59 a.m. EDT, after closing up Tuesday for the seventh day in a row.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq increased 20 points, or 0.15%, to 13,660 after finishing the previous session with eight consecutive days of gains.
Both indexes on Tuesday recorded their longest daily winning streak since November 2021.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average, meanwhile, rose 68 points, or 0.2%, to 34,220 at the time.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 1.8% to 14.54. The 10-year US Treasury yield lost 0.3% to 4.557%.
The dollar index added 0.1% to 105.64, while the euro shed 0.12% to reach $1.0686 against the greenback.
Precious metals were mixed, with gold losing 0.5% to $1,959 an ounce but silver was flat at $22.63.
Oil prices were down around 1%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $80.87 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $76.55. Both benchmarks are hovering around their lowest levels since July.
