Spain contributes over $1M to flood-hit Libya
At least 6,000 people killed, thousands of others remain missing due to weekend floods in North African country

GENEVA (AA) - Spain is contributing €1 million ($1.07 million) to help Libya, where devastating floods have killed thousands of people, the country's foreign minister said on Wednesday.
"Spanish solidarity is also present in Libya," Jose Manuel Albares said on X.
"Spain is contributing 1 million euros through AECID (Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation) via IFRC (International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies) and UN OCHA (Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) TOhelp the victims of the floods caused by the climate emergency," Albares added.
At least 6,000 people have been killed and many others remain missing due to weekend floods caused by Storm Daniel in eastern Libya, according to officials.
Torrential rains swept several regions of the North African country on Sunday, most notably the port city of Derna, Benghazi, Al-Bayda, Al-Marj, and Soussa.
