Special website on Turkey's defeated coup launched
'www.coupfacts.com' highlights Turkish nation's historic resistance to July 15 coup bid
ANKARA (AA) - A special website listing all the facts of the defeated coup of July 15 has been launched.
The site "www.coupfacts.com" highlights the Turkish nation’s historic resistance to the coup bid, which came at the cost of hundreds of lives and thousands of wounded people.
The role of Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) in the attempt is also mentioned in detail.
The website consists of five main sections titled: coup attempt, heroes, squares, reactions from the world, and wall of shame.
The section "coup attempt" details what happened on the night of July 15, with photographs and videos; the "heroes" section gives readers a glimpse into the resistance made by martyrs. This section includes stories of martyrs such as Omer Halisdemir, who shot a pro-coup commander in the head when he tried to take over the Special Forces Command; and Safiye Bayat, who confronted tanks on the Bosphorus Bridge and tried to convince pro-coup soldiers to turn themselves in.
The "wall of shame" section portrays the tragic indifference of the Western world to the coup bid, which turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to the resistance on July 15.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's video message on the failed coup night is also available on the website.
Turkey's government has said the defeated coup, which left 240 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured, was organized by followers of Fetullah Gulen, who has lived in self-imposed exile in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania since 1999, and his FETO network.
Gulen is accused of leading a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary, forming what is commonly known as the parallel state.
