ISTANBUL (AA) – From a galaxy long ago and far, far away, the Star Wars saga is fast-forwarding into a fabled city bridging two continents.
The celebrated film, TV, and book series will be celebrated with an exhibit called the Fans of the Galaxy at the Istanbul Cinema Museum, featuring unique objects designed by fans.
The fan-driven show includes more than 600 pieces gathered over four decades and will be open to visitors from Oct. 1 to Feb. 1, 2024, according a museum statement.
In addition to original products, hundreds of unique collectables, life-size figures, helmets, lightsabers, signed masks, virtual reality experience areas, and spaces prepared with set decor will be presented to visitors, the statement added.
The Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry endorsed the exhibit, which will take place at the Istanbul Cinema Museum located in the teeming Beyoglu district.
The display will be set up to showcase 50 sculptures, 120 figures, 30 life-scale armors and suits, spaceship battles featured in the films, 25 modeled and hand-painted life-size busts and unique dioramas with gigantic creature figures, helmets, film masks signed by the actors, posters and many other pieces, each of which is a work of art.
A variety of events, such as screenings of Star Wars productions, film readings, and documentary screenings, will be featured for cinephiles.
The Star Wars series debuted in 1977 and made history as the world’s highest-grossing film series with 12 feature films, as well as numerous animated and life-action TV series, novels, and comic books.
