Student shot at high school in US state of Maryland: Police

WASHINGTON (AA) - A student was shot at a high school in Rockville, Maryland on Monday, according to Montgomery County police.

"The victim has been transported to an area hospital and is currently in stable condition," the police said on the US social media company X’s platform.

One person is in custody related to the incident at Thomas S. Wootton High School, it added.

The school has been placed on lockdown, police said. Rockville is located roughly 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of Washington, DC.
