Survey finds decline in Poles willing to defend country

ISTANBUL (AA) - A new survey showed a decline in Poles’ willingness to defend their country, with just four in 10 ready to take up arms, broadcaster TVP World reported Wednesday.

An IBRiS poll for Radio Zet showed that 43.2% of Poles would defend the country if threatened by war, down from 49.1% two months earlier.

The poll also revealed that the proportion of undecided respondents has more than doubled since September, rising from 6.1% to 13.6%.

Young adults aged 18–29 remain the least willing with a clear majority saying they would not defend the country. Still, the share who say they would “definitely” fight climbed from zero in September to 19%.
