MOSCOW (AA) – The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Friday that a Russian citizen suspected of involvement in a car bomb attack targeting a military officer in northern Moscow has been extradited from Türkiye.

Yevgeny Serebryakov, a day after the bomb attack, was captured on Thursday in Türkiye’s southwest coastal town of Bodrum through the combined efforts of the FSB, the Russian Interior Ministry, Turkish intelligence services, and law enforcement agencies, the statement said.

"On July 24, 2024, in northern Moscow, Yevgeniy Serebryakov, born in 1995, who is on the international wanted list, was involved in a car bombing. He was extradited to Russia on July 26, 2024," the statement read.

In a video shared alongside the statement, during Serebryakov's initial interrogation, he confessed, "I contacted Ukrainian intelligence in February 2023 to cooperate."

The explosion occurred on the morning of Wednesday in a parked car in Moscow, injuring a Russian senior officer inside.

Serebryakov was found to be involved in the incident after an investigation. However, it was discovered that he had fled Moscow to Bodrum by plane after the bombing.

Earlier, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that the Intelligence Directorate, Interpol/Europol Department, MIT Directorate, Migration Management Directorate, Anti-Terrorism Department, and Mugla Provincial Police Department coordinated the efforts.

The Mugla Provincial Police Department units in Bodrum apprehended Serebryakov based on information from the Russian INTERPOL Unit.
