GENEVA (AA) - Sweden will convene its National Security Council on Saturday to assess the country’s security situation amid what the government describes as a turbulent international environment.
"Right now, a lot is happening in the outside world. The government's main task is to protect Swedish interests and the safety of Swedes, and we do," Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson wrote in a comment to Swedish news agency TT on Wednesday.
The prime minister is in Davos on Wednesday and will attend an EU summit in Brussels on Thursday, according to the report.
"To gather us after recent travel and shuttle diplomacy and synchronize our images of the major security issues, I have called a meeting of the National Security Council on Saturday. The meeting will be about the government's work to strengthen Sweden in the turbulent outside world," Kristersson said.
