ISTANBUL (AA) – Taiwan's semiconductor company MediaTek is reportedly partnering with Google on the production of next-gen AI chips, known as Tensor Processing Units, Taiwan News reported on Tuesday.

The production of Tensor Processing Units is expected to start next year, according to a report by the Information, even though Google has not cut ties with US-based semiconductor company Broadcom, with which it has collaborated in recent years.

If the deal is finalized, MediaTek could oversee the processing of input/output modules that manage communication between the main processors and other components, according to Silicon Angle.

Meanwhile, MediaTek and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) announced last week that they had successfully demonstrated the first silicon-proven power management unit and integrated power amplifier using TSMC's N6RF+ process.

“This achievement makes it possible to integrate these two essential components into a system-on-chip on an advanced RF process for wireless connectivity products, enabling a significantly smaller form factor while enjoying performance competitive with stand-alone modules,” MediaTek stated in a press release.
