Police blame Boko Haram for using teenage girls to bomb remote community in northeast province

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AA) - Two teenage suicide bombers have blown up themselves in a remote community in Nigeria’s northeast Borno State, killing themselves and five others.
Police confirmed Friday’s incident and blamed Boko Haram for the latest blast.
The two girls detonated explosives strapped to their bodies early Friday morning at Mandarari ward in the Konduga local government area about 25 kilometers (15 miles) from Maiduguri, the provincial capital, police spokesman Murtalar Ibrahim said in a statement.
"Six persons sustained various degrees of injuries," police added.
The incident came barely a day after security forces foiled an attempted suicide attack by three female bombers near Maiduguri, birthplace of the Boko Haram terror group.
Nobody has claimed responsibility though the Nigerian military said Boko Haram was responsible for most of the bombings and attacks in the country’s northeast, often using female teenagers as suicide bombers.
