ANKARA (AA) – Thailand's new Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and her 34-member Cabinet took an oath before King Maha Vajiralongkorn on Friday, local media said.

Premier Shinawatra, 37, of the Pheu Thai Party, and her 34 Cabinet members swore their allegiance in front of King Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida in a ceremony at Bangkok's Dusit Palace, according to Bangkok Post.

Her Cabinet includes six deputy prime ministers from the coalition government's three core parties: Pheu Thai, Bhumjaithai, and the United Thai Nation.

Shinawatra is the country's 31st and youngest premier.

Shinawatra, the daughter of former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, received royal assent to officially hold the office on Aug. 18, two days after being elected by the parliament.

She secured more than the required 247 votes in the 493-seat lower house.

She is Thailand's third prime minister, coming from the powerful Shinawatra family. Her aunt, Yingluck Shinawatra, previously held the position.

Her election to the top post comes after the Thai Constitutional Court removed Srettha Thavisin for an ethics violation.
