RABAT (AA) – Tens of thousands of Moroccans marched in the northwest cities of Tangier and Casablanca on Sunday in support of Palestinians, with a particular emphasis on the situation in Gaza, which has been devastated by Israeli army bombings.

According to an Anadolu correspondent, participants in the Tangier rally prominently displayed Palestinian and Moroccan flags, as well as images of Al-Aqsa mosque and Israeli onslaught victims in Gaza.

The march, which was supported by a number of civil organizations, including the Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Opposing Normalization and the Moroccan Authority for Supporting the Causes of the Nation, drew attention to the "resistance," which was instrumental in the release of Palestinian women prisoners.

Participants also demanded that the Israeli communication office in Rabat be closed down.

Participants at the rally chanted slogans such as "a salute of struggle to resilient Gaza," "the people want to overthrow normalization," "heading to Jerusalem, with millions of martyrs," and "the people want the liberation of Palestine."

In Casablanca, tens of thousands of Moroccans also marched to express solidarity with Gaza and to oppose normalization of relations with Israel.

The march was organized by the Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Opposing Normalization, the participants prominently displayed images of Al-Aqsa and victims of Israeli war on Gaza.

Protesters chanted slogans such as “the people of Morocco for Al-Aqsa... with the flood of Al-Aqsa,” “the people want to overthrow normalization,” “the people want the liberation of Palestine,” “Gaza, Gaza... symbol of pride,” and “the people of Al-Aqsa will march until victory and liberation.”

In Dec. 2020, Morocco and Israel reestablished diplomatic relations, which had been frozen since 2000, a move that was opposed by popular and political forces in the kingdom.

Protesters also lauded the resistance for its capacity to “impose its conditions” in the temporary humanitarian pause agreement reached by Hamas with Israel.
