Protesters shouted slogans against Israel, US, holding Hezbollah banners, images of Nasrallah

ISTANBUL (AA) - Thousands of demonstrators filled the streets of Tehran Tuesday to celebrate Iran's missile strike on Israel as they condemned Tel Aviv's ongoing military actions.
Demonstrators -- holding flags from Iran, Lebanon and Palestine, as well as Hezbollah banners and posters of slain leader Hassan Nasrallah -- rallied against Israel and the US and condemned what they termed ongoing war crimes in the Gaza Strip, according to social media videos.
Protesters of all ages, who prayed and recited elegies, demanded officials respond to Israel with the slogan: "Our only word is revenge."
Israel has launched massive airstrikes since Sept. 23 against what it calls Hezbollah targets across Lebanon that have killed more than 960 victims and injured over 2,770, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
Nasrallah, along with several Hezbollah commanders, were killed in an Israeli strike in Beirut on Friday.
Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in cross-border warfare since the start of Israel's onslaught against Gaza last October, which has killed nearly 41,600 victims, mostly women and children, following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group, Hamas.
The international community has warned that Israeli attacks in Lebanon could escalate the Gaza conflict into a wider regional war.
