Thousands march in Morocco in support of Gaza, call for end to 'genocide'
Protesters chant slogans calling for protection of civilians in enclave, delivery of aid

RABAT, Morocco (AA) - Thousands of demonstrators marched Sunday in the port city of Mohammedia in western Morocco to show solidarity with Gaza, calling for an end to the "genocide" against its residents and commending the resilience of the Palestinian people.
During the protest, which was organized by the Moroccan Front in Support of Palestine and Against Normalization movement, which purportedly includes political, union and human rights organizations, protesters chanted slogans advocating for the protection of civilians in Gaza and the delivery of aid.
Participants condemned the Israeli army's "massacre at Al-Nuseirat camp" in Gaza and other acts of violence against Palestinians.
On Saturday, Israeli forces carried out heavy artillery and air strikes on the refugee camp, killing at least 274 people and wounding nearly 700 others according to local health authorities, resulting in widespread condemnation.
The demonstration proceeded through major streets in Mohammedia before converging in the city center.
Israel has continued its brutal offensive on Gaza since an Oct. 7 attack by the Palestinian group Hamas, despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire.
More than 37,000 Palestinians have since been killed in Gaza, most of them women and children, and nearly 84,500 others injured, according to local health authorities.
Eight months into the Israeli war, vast tracts of Gaza lay in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine.
Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, whose latest ruling ordered Tel Aviv to immediately halt its operation in the southern city of Rafah, where over a million Palestinians had sought refuge from the war before it was invaded on May 6.
