TIKA trains first aid volunteers in Bosnia-Herzegovina

Training aimed at increasing participants' intervention capacity, skills

ANKARA (AA) - The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) said Thursday it provided emergency medical response and search and rescue training to 58 Bosnians in February.

In a written statement, TIKA said 31 Bosnians received emergency medical response and search and rescue training in winter conditions which it provided in cooperation with the Association of International Doctors (AID). The training aimed to increase the intervention capacity and skills of the participants.

TIKA also provided search and rescue training in winter conditions to 27 Bosnians in cooperation with Ankara Search and Rescue (ANSAR).

Both training events took place from Feb. 17-21.

Speaking at the certificate presentation ceremony for the trainees held near Igman mountain in central Bosnia and Herzegovina, TIKA’s Sarajevo Program Coordinator Omer Faruk Alimci said TIKA has realized more than 800 projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1995.

The training events were part of TIKA's Emergency Medicine Capacity Increasing Program (ATKAP) launched in 2017 in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
