WASHINGTON (AA) - President Donald Trump fired the Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Charles Q. Brown because "he thinks he’s doing a bad job," the White House said Tuesday.
Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said it was time for "a shake-up at the Pentagon."
"They failed seven audits in a row, the trust in our United States military, amongst the warfighters, is low," she told reporters.
"The president is shaking up the Pentagon and the Department of Defense, of course, with Secretary (Pete) Hegseth leading, and he has the right to do such a thing," she added.
Trump abruptly announced Friday that Brown was being fired and he would nominate Air Force Lieut. Gen. Dan “Razin” Caine to be the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
