Tornado in southern China leaves 5 dead, 33 injured

ISTANBUL (AA) - Five people died and 33 others were injured Saturday as a strong tornado hit China’s southern province of Guangdong, local media reported.

A total of 141 factories were damaged in the Baiyun, according to state-run Xinhua News Agency.

Numerous firefighting and search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area for relief efforts.

The initial investigation conducted by the provincial meteorological bureau found that the tornado had a level-three intensity, two levels down from the highest level-five intensity, and it traveled a distance of about 1 kilometer (0.6 miles).
