Trump calls Supreme Court tariff ruling 'disgrace': Reports

WASHINGTON (AA) - US President Donald Trump on Friday called the Supreme Court ruling to strike down most of his tariffs a "disgrace," according to local media reports.

Citing a person familiar with the president's reaction, the reports said Trump was informed about the ruling during a meeting with governors at the White House.

According to the person, Trump had a backup plan.

In a 6-3 decision, the Court ruled that Trump exceeded his authority when imposing sweeping tariffs using a law reserved for a national emergency.

The decision halts Trump’s broad reciprocal tariffs, including those levied on Canada, China, and Mexico, which he said were intended to curb the flow of illegal narcotics into the US.
