Trump offers to speak under oath after Comey testimony

WASHINGTON (AA) - President Donald Trump on Friday denied bombshell revelations by former FBI Director James Comey, offering to testify under oath on the matter.

Speaking from the Rose Garden, Trump dismissed Comey as a "leaker", and denied he sought a loyalty pledge from the FBI chief, or sought to stunt an investigation into former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.

“No I didn’t say that," Trump insisted. "Yesterday showed no collusion, no obstruction. We are doing really well."

He further refused to say whether he has tapes of conversations with Comey after threatening on Twitter that the ousted FBI chief "better hope that there are no 'tapes' of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!"

During testimony before the Senate intelligence committee, Comey called Trump a liar no less than five times, questioning his integrity during a three-hour hearing.

He acknowledged he sent the content of a memo recounting a conversation with Trump to a reporter through an intermediary in the hopes that a special counsel would be appointed to lead the Russia probe.

But the information was likely not classified, and Trump chose not to invoke executive privilege, which would have kept his private conversations confidential.

Comey is not alone in "leaking" information to the press. Government officials, including those in the White House, regularly do so.

Trump's lawyer is expected to file a complaint with the Justice Department over the testimony next week.
