Trump orders closure of federal police misconduct database
US president revokes Biden's order that established database

ISTANBUL (AA) — US President Donald Trump Thursday has ordered the closure of the first national database tracking misconduct by federal law enforcement officers.
The Justice Department confirmed the deletion of a resource that experts argued had enhanced public safety by preventing bad officers from moving to new agencies and starting over with clean records, the Washington Post reported.
In 2020, Trump himself had proposed creating a databased on “instances of excessive use of force related to law enforcement matters” after the killing of George Floyd, a Black man, by police which sparked protests worldwide.
However, the database was not established until two years later, when an executive order from former President Joe Biden led to the creation of the National Law Enforcement Accountability Database.
In January, Trump issued an order revoking Biden's orders, including the one about establishing the database.
