Trump says he will meet Venezuela’s opposition figure Machado again

WASHINGTON (AA) - US President Donald Trump said Friday that he would again meet Venezuela’s opposition figure Maria Corina Machado, describing her offering him her Nobel Peace Prize medal as “very nice gesture,” following their meeting at the White House.

“I think she's a very fine woman and we'll be talking again,” Trump told reporters.

Trump said Machado told him at the meeting Thursday that he deserved the prize for his role in ending multiple wars: “She said, ‘you’ve ended eight wars, and nobody deserves this prize more than in history than you do,’” he said. “And I thought it was a very nice gesture.”

Machado said earlier that she was "impressed" by Trump’s close attention to developments in Venezuela and his concern for the well-being of its people.
