Board to include around 15 world leaders, oversee Gaza reconstruction, according to reports

ISTANBUL (AA) - US President Donald Trump is expected to unveil the Gaza Board of Peace next week within the framework of the ceasefire’s second phase, according to two US officials and two sources familiar with the matter, according to Axios news.

The board, which is expected to be chaired by Trump and include around 15 world leaders, will supervise a yet-to-be-formed Palestinian government and oversee the reconstruction process in Gaza.

Countries expected to join the board include the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt and Türkiye.

One source with direct knowledge of the initiative said: “Invitations are going out to key countries to be members of the board.”

US officials said the plan remains subject to change, citing potential development in other foreign policy priorities, such as Venezuela and Ukraine-Russia peace efforts.

Former UN Middle East envoy Nikolay Mladenov is set to act as the Board of Peace’s representative on the ground.

He is visiting Israel this week to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other officials ahead of Trump’s expected announcement.
