ISTANBUL (AA) - US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he will sue JPMorgan Chase, one of the largest banks in the US, within two weeks for “incorrectly and inappropriately debanking” the president after the Jan. 6 protests.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump denied a Wall Street Journal report claiming that he had offered JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon the position of chair of the US Federal Reserve.
“This statement is totally untrue, there was never such an offer and, in fact, I’ll be suing JPMorgan Chase over the next two weeks for incorrectly and inappropriately DEBANKING me after the January 6th Protest,” Trump said.
Trump also added that the protests “turned out to be correct” and reiterated his claim that the 2020 election was “rigged.”
Questioning why The Wall Street Journal did not contact him to verify whether the alleged offer had been made, Trump added: “I would have very quickly told them 'NO,' and that would have been the end of the story.”
Trump said people were also led to believe he had offered Dimon the position of Treasury secretary, a job he claimed Dimon would have been very interested in, but said that no such offer was ever made or even considered because Scott Bessent is doing “a fantastic job” and is “a superstar.”
He added that The Wall Street Journal should do better "fact checking, or its already strained credibility will continue to DIVE."
