Trump to visit France year after Bastille Day attack
'President Trump looks forward to reaffirming America’s strong ties of friendship with France,' White House says

WASHINGTON (AA) - - President Donald Trump will visit France on July 14, one year after a deadly terror attack in that country's south killed scores of victims, the White House announced Wednesday.
French President Emmanuel Macron invited Trump to visit on Bastille Day during a telephone call Tuesday.
"President Trump looks forward to reaffirming America’s strong ties of friendship with France, to celebrating this important day with the French people, and to commemorating the 100th anniversary of America’s entry into World War I," White House spokesman Sean Spicer said in a statement.
The leaders will discuss counterterrorism cooperation and economic partnership among "many other issues of mutual concern" during the visit, Spicer said.
During Bastille Day last year, a truck smashed into crowds of pedestrians celebrating the holiday in the southern city of Nice, killing 86 victims.
The attack was claimed by Daesh.
