Turkcell to establish electricity trading company
2 million Turkish lira ($272,800) start-up will operate retail and wholesale electricity trade

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s leading cellphone operator Turkcell will establish an electricity trading company, it announced on Friday.
The information was revealed in a statement sent to Turkey's Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
Turktell Bilisim (Informatic) Incorporated Company, a subsidiary of which, Turkcell, will establish a new energy company with two million Turkish liras ($272,800) in capital.
The company will conduct retail and wholesale electricity trade, Turkcell said.
After the company is established, it will apply for an electricity trade license to Turkey's Energy Market Regulatory Authority.
In Turkey, GSM-based mobile communication began when Turkcell commenced operations in 1994.
Since then, it has continuously expanded its services based on mobile audio and data communication.
