ANTALYA, Turkey (AA) – Turkish police arrested 11 suspects linked to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) last week in the Mediterranean city of Antalya, a local authority said on Wednesday.
Among the suspects were a fugitive wanted for "membership in a terrorist organization" and another wanted for "insulting the president," according to a statement by the provincial police department.
Three of the suspects were released by Antalya prosecutors and five were sent to the cities where their investigations were conducted.
Two suspects referred to the courthouse were remanded in custody and one was released on condition of judicial control.
FETO and its US-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, in which 251 people were martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.
Ankara accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
