Suspects are believed to have funded Fetullah Terrorist Organization through a US non-profit institution
By Filiz Kinik
ISTANBUL (AA) - Twenty people suspected of financing the “parallel state” terror group were remanded in custody by an Istanbul court on Friday.
Six others were freed under judicial control by the Anadolu Criminal Court of Peace no:5 following a series of arrests across three Turkish provinces - Istanbul, Konya and Kirklareli on Tuesday.
The suspects are believed to have funded the Fetullah Terrorist Organization, also known as FETO or more commonly the parallel state, through a U.S. non-profit institution.
The group is led by U.S.-based cleric Fetullah Gulen, who is accused of attempting to overthrow the Turkish government through a network of supporters, known as Gulenists, within state institutions.
