ANKARA (AA) - A wanted suspect was arrested in Turkey's capital Ankara for alleged links to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), the group behind the 2016 defeated coup in the country, a security source said on Friday.
Former judge Menekse Uyar is accused of deprivation of liberty, misconduct, being a member of an armed terrorist organization and violating the constitution.
The suspect's trial will be held in the Court of Cassation, along with 50 former judges and prosecutors with suspected links to FETO.
FETO and its US-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016 which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.
Turkey also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.
