Turkey: Borsa Istanbul stocks up at open

BIST 100 index rises 0.45 pct over Thursday's close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.45 percent or 458.58 points to open at 102,890.87 points Friday.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index increased 0.23 percent to close the day at 102,432.29 points with a daily trading volume of 5.82 billion Turkish liras ($1.06 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.4730 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), up from 5.4710 at Thursday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.1990, versus 6.1930 at the previous close.

One British pound traded for 7.2600 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.2570 at market close Thursday.

The price of Brent oil was around $67.39 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
