ANKARA (AA) - Turkey on Tuesday condemned a bomb attack in Iraq that killed two people and injured 13 others.

“We have learnt with great sorrow the deaths and injuries as a result of a bomb attack in Talafar […] today (25 December),” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“We strongly condemn this abhorrent terrorist attack, our condolences to the brotherly people of Iraq, especially our Turkmen citizens of Talafar, and wish speedy recovery to the wounded,” the statement said.

Turkey will continue to support Iraq's fight against terrorism and its efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in the country, it added.

Earlier, two people were killed and 13 others injured in the car bombing in Iraq’s majority-Turkman Tal Afar district.

Located in Iraq’s northern Nineveh province, Tal Afar sits roughly 60 kilometers west of provincial capital Mosul.

As of Tuesday afternoon, no group had claimed responsibility for the deadly car bombing, although the Iraqi authorities typically blame such attacks on the Daesh terrorist group.
