ANKARA (AA) - Turkish Foreign Ministry has condemned what it called "heinous terrorist attacks" which hit Nigeria on Monday.
Twelve people were killed and 26 others injured in triple suicide bombings in northeastern Borno State on Monday morning.
“We are saddened by the terrorist attacks carried out in the district of Konduga in northeastern Nigeria’s Borno State by suicide bombers claiming many lives and leaving several people injured,” the ministry said in a written statement on Tuesday.
"We condemn these heinous terrorist attacks, wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to the injured," the statement added.
Although the bombings, which are blamed on Boko Haram, happened in the morning hours, information did not reach the capital until later due to the remoteness of the village.
Boko Haram seeks to carve out a state for itself in Nigeria’s north. Its insurgency has forced around three million people to flee their homes.
The terror group seized some areas and declared a "caliphate" in 2013 until the military recaptured the districts in early 2015.
