Turkey set to strengthen transparency, accountability

ISTANBUL (AA) – The Turkish government will ease observation and evaluation of public financial activities by strengthening transparency and accountability.

The government will develop tools to review expenses effectively and remove unproductive spending items, according to data Anadolu Agency compiled from the Turkish Presidency's Annual Program which was released on Monday.

The program aims to use public personnel efficiently and boost their satisfaction.

Competition in public tender and agreement processes will be raised for savings in public expenses.

The country will launch a user-friendly website -- harcama.gov.tr -- to share data about public expenses.

Turkey aims to improve citizens' budget literacy and provide clear public expenses data in the coming period.

The government will also publish processes and results of public tenders through online channels.
