ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s Interior Ministry shut down 94 non-governmental organizations on Friday.
According to a statement from the ministry, the organizations in 20 provinces were linked to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), the PKK/KCK, the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C), Daesh and extreme-left organizations.
They were closed to protect security and public order, the authorities said.
The Interior Ministry said 42 organizations were associated with FETO while 26 were related to the PKK/KCK. Three associations were connected to the DHKP-C and four to Daesh. Those remaining were associated with some extreme-left organizations.
Friday’s step was taken under state-of-emergency legislation, the ministry added.
After the deadly July 15 coup attempt, which martyred 248 people and injured nearly 2,200 others, Turkey declared a state of emergency.
