Turkey takes part in international cybercrime event
Three-day conference aimed at strengthening national governments in seizing cybercrime proceeds
BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) – Turkey is taking part in a three-day cybercrime conference organized by the EU and the Council of Europe in Macedonia.
The ‘iproceeds’ event began in the southwest city of Ohri on Monday.
A joint project between the EU and the Council of Europe, it aims to strengthen the capacity of national authorities to search for, seize and confiscate cybercrime proceeds and prevent money laundering on the Internet.
Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo are also taking part.
The head of the Council of Europe’s cybercrime office, Alexander Seger, told Anadolu Agency that these kind of projects had “great political support”.
"When you look at the issues such as cybercrime, information technology and criminal actions, we are at the starting point," said Seger.
Cavkov stressed the importance of international cooperation for a more effective fight against cybercrime.
The conference will last until Wednesday.
