Turkey's benchmark stock index flat at open

BIST 100 index drops 0.08 pct compared to Thursday's close, US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stands at around 5.2740

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index fell 0.08 percent or 76.54 points to open at 91,777.54 points on Friday.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 0.75 percent to close the day at 91,854.08 points with a daily trading volume of 5.2 billion Turkish lira ($990 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate reached 5.2740 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), up from Thursday's closing rate of 5.2580.

The euro/lira rate was 6.0460, versus 6.0350 at the last close. One British pound was exchanged for 6.6910 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY was 6.7790 by market close on Thursday.

The price of Brent oil was around $54.87 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Friday.
