Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down at close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's stock exchange dropped 1.5 percent, to close at 91,445.28 points, on Monday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index decreased 1,393.92 points from last week's close of 92,839.21 points, while it started the day at 93,005.79 points.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 5.4420 as of 5 p.m. local time (1400GMT) on Monday. It was 5.4800 at the last week's close.

The euro/lira exchange rate went down to 6.1370 by market close -- from 6.2190 at Friday's close -- and one British pound traded for 7.0420 Turkish liras compared to 7.1380 at the previous close.

As of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT), the price of Brent oil rose to $71.07 per barrel, compared with $70.18 at Friday's close.
