Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down at open

BIST 100 index slips 2.35% from previous close; US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stands at 6.1420

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index fell by 2.35% or 2,137.7 points to open at 90,801.28 points Tuesday.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index decreased by 1.03% to close the day at 92,982.27 points with a daily trading volume of 4.4 billion Turkish liras ($737.8 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.1420 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to Monday's closing rate of 6.0140.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 6.8930, versus 6.7340 at the previous close.

One British pound traded for 8.0760 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.8900 at market close Monday.

The price of Brent oil was around $71.19 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Tuesday.
