Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down at open

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened Friday at 101,508.05 points, down 0.38% or 392.2 points.

As of the end of Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 0.18% to 101,900.25 points with a daily trading volume of 6.05 billion Turkish liras ($1.08 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.6000 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, up from 5.5880 on Thursday.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.2100, versus 6.1830, and one British pound traded for 6.8000 Turkish liras, compared to 6.7610 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent oil sold for $61.70 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
