Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down at Thursday's close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index on Thursday closed at 85,195.39 points, dropping 0.45% from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 84,940.28 points. As of the daily close, it had lost 381.22 points from Wednesday's close of 85,576.61 points.

The index hovered between 84,802.57 points and 86,879.00 points during the day.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 585 billion Turkish liras ($90 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 7.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.1 billion).

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,478.30 by market close, down from $1,503.45 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

Brent crude prices continued its fall below the psychological threshold of $30 per barrel due to global recession concerns and declining oil demand worldwide as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $26.62 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Thursday.
