Turkey's Borsa Istanbul ends Thursday at new high

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed Thursday at a new record high of 2,278.55 points.

Starting the day at 2,186.58 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index climbed 116.29 points, or 5.38%, from the previous close of 2,162.26 points.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,785.50 by the day’s end, up from $1,768.80 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was up 0.9% to $74.54 per barrel as of 6.44 p.m. local time (1544GMT).
