Turkey's Borsa Istanbul flat at opening

BIST 100 Index gains 80.96 points versus previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.08% or 80.96 points to start Friday at 99,289.45 points.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose by 1.17% to close the day at 99,208.49 points with a daily trading volume of 6.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.20 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.4690 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, from 5.4550 on Thursday.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.1180, versus 6.1270, and one British pound traded for 6.6610 Turkish liras, compared to 6.6260 at previous close.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for around $57.42 as of 11 a.m. local time (0800GMT) on Friday.
