Turkey's Borsa Istanbul goes up at close
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rises 0.23 percent at close, USD/TRY rate stands at 3.63

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day up 0.23 percent at 106,474.46 points with a trade volume of 5.1 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 248.77 points, up from 106,255.69 points at close on Friday. The banking sector index decreased by 0.06 percent, while the holding sector index increased by 0.15 percent.
Among all sectors, the wood-paper printing sector was the top performer -- up 2.57 percent -- while the mining index suffered the biggest drop, losing 0.79 percent.
Stocks of real estate investment trust Kiler GMYO had the best performance of the day with a 10.74 percent rise, while energy and mining company Ipek Dogal Enerji was the worst performer, with its stocks falling 2.63 percent.
The top five traded shares of the BIST 100 were the national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti, iron and steel producer Kardemir Karabuk, defense company Aselsan and another lender Akbank.
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was flat at 3.6370 by 5 p.m. local time (1400GMT) on Monday, compared to 3.6310 at Friday's close.
Borsa Istanbul's Gold Exchange index increased by 0.21 percent, while the price of gold per kilogram reached 152,600 Turkish liras ($42,001) as of 4.30 p.m. local time (1330GMT) on Monday, compared with 152,100 Turkish liras ($42,008) at the close on Friday.
